Farabee Family Sneak Peek

Most everywhere I go, I make new friends. Some of these friendships are fleeting.  A handful turn into real friends. I believe this one falls into the latter category.

I met Wendy, this past December, while she and her kids were waiting in line to see Santa Claus. I was there with my munchkins too.  I made a comment about the line being long or it being so cold out or something along those lines.  From there, we talked pretty much non-stop for the next hour as we got closer and closer to Santa.  I loved her humor and energy and our personalities just clicked.  Her girls are a few years younger than my 2 kids but they all get along great. (In an earlier blog post, I photographed a playdate we all had together that went so well!)

Wendy asked me to do a family photo shoot and the original shoot date was on her and her husband's anniversary. I so loved that idea!  Unfortunately, Mother Nature decided that was a great day to rain so we had to reschedule. The shoot finally came together this past Saturday and we couldn't have asked for better weather.

The littlest one, I learned, was a bit camera shy. However, after much conversation at home in the week leading up to the shoot, she agreed to smile for me and even had a few of her own ideas for poses. I loved it! Wet met at Cantigny and off we went. I had the best time with the entire family.  It was the first time I got to meet Wendy's husband Scott.

This is one of my favorite images from the entire shoot.  I could just feel the love between these 2.  It made me wish I had been able to photograph their engagement session (seven years ago!)

Little Miss A was a gem to photograph! She was so willing to work with me and do whatever I asked of her.  The haircut was new and I have to say I think it suits her perfectly and frames her face beautifully!

Little Miss K cracked me up. She is full of sass and fun and she definitely had a mind of her own during the session.  What a little bundle of energy and humor!

I so enjoyed my time with this family!  And, I'm looking forward to many more years of friendship!
Thank you for the opportunity to spend a few hours with you. I enjoyed every minute!  I hope you enjoy the photos!

  1. My client sent me this comment directly, as she had trouble getting it to post on my blog. She asked if I would post it for her...so here it is. And thank you, Wendy, for your wonderful words! Bari

    Bari,
Where do I even begin? I have been searching for words to describe how I felt when I saw the photos of our family. I am full of many emotions (all great of course!) You definitely captured the essence of each of my daughters and you couldn't be more accurate with their descriptions! I initially reacted with a great big smile when I viewed our photos. What a delight! You did an amazing job! After staring at the photos of the girls, I began to get a little misty. They look so big, and oh how their personalities shine through...all a testament to your wonderful ability to bring the photos to life! You are not only a beautiful person, but a beautiful photographer! We LOVE the few pictures we have seen and are excited and anxious to see the rest. I look forward to our future get togethers (friendly and professional...although, even the professional feel like a 'play date'). Your passion, humor, and energy are infectious! THANK YOU!!!
    Love,
    Wendy
