Falling Flakes

There is nothing like a snowstorm to make a gal rush right out into the weather and take a bunch of photos!  Within 48 hours, we had snow, rain, ice, rain and then, for all intents and purposes, a snowstorm.  Oh goodness did I ever have fun tromping around Cantigny in the quiet peacefulness of falling snow.

I'm loving this Winter Wonderland!

Happy Holidays and Happy New Year!

Well, 2009 is quickly coming to a close. It's been a wonderful year!  Our munchkins have started kindergarten and are loving every minute of it.  They have started to read which is mind boggling, frankly.  And, they couldn't be more excited about Santa coming in a week.

Thank you to everyone who has been so wonderfully supportive of my new photography business that I started this year.  My passion for taking pictures continues to grow and I've loved being able to share that with my clients.  A special thank you to my clients for inviting me to your homes and allowing me to spend  time with your families, doing what I love most - capturing the essence of who each person is at this point in time.

Wishing everyone all the best for 2010!  Until next year....

Sweet Munchkins

This past weekend I did a photo shoot with V & Q.  Goodness are they adorable kids!  V is 3 and a half and is as articulate as my 5 and a half year olds. Such a little lady! I do believe she chose her own outfit which was just perfect and fancy for our photos.  Katie, V's doll with crazy hair, was also to be in the shoot, though I'm not sure any of those turned out.
Q and I were meeting for the first time and he was such a good sport about the photos.  We all worked together to get his attention and coax a smile from him.  He's on the verge of sitting up but isn't quite there yet so it was interesting trying to pose and balance him (with Mom right there to catch him, of course).

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

A Day at Cantigny

In the midst of 49 degree weather, the R Family and I headed out to Cantigny.  It turned out to be a beautiful day.  We all got chilly from time to time but it's amazing how chasing three kids can warm a person up. I ended up taking off my coat that day!  Right at the end we were all a bit frozen, but the trip was worth it.  We had fun and got some natural shots of each of the kids.  Cantigny is such a fantastic spot for photos. I'll definitely be keeping this on the top of my list for great locations for future shoots!

Thanks to the R Family for allowing me to spend such a fun couple of hours with the kids (and the two of you, of course)!
See you in the warmer weather!

Newborn Baby H

I was very excited to get a chance to do my first newborn shoot.  Thanks to my friend up in Wisconsin for allowing me to "borrow" her baby.  The little guy was such a champion sleeper and was so tolerant of all the moving around we made him do.  His teeny tiny little feet were so precious, as was the rest of him, of course!  It was a challenging day but oh so rewarding!

Sweet dreams, little man!

A&K Family Sneak Peek

Oh goodness. How did i get so behind in this blog?  Yikes! Time to play catch up and show some shots from a recent family session.  We did this shoot indoors, which was a bit daunting but turned out quite well.  This is a family I've known for years so it was extra special to be able to photograph the kids.  The littlest one did a fantastic job of listening and was a great little subject. I was most impressed.  The sweet girl, who is normally quite shy and reserved around me, picked the perfect day to come out of her shell and we had a great time. The big brother of the group was excited to share his ideas with me and was a very cooperative little man.

Thanks to the A&K Family for inviting me to your home to photograph your beautiful children!

Learning to Fly!

One day, Maggie decided she'd had enough of training wheels and thus commenced the beginning of learning how to ride a two wheel bike. I must say, I was so impressed with my husband and his teaching abilities. He broke it down in a way I would never have thought to do.  First, he took the pedals off, along with the training wheels of course.  Our kids had to simply sit on the bike and walk themselves down the driveway without falling down.  With our driveway being on a slight tilt, it gave them the perfect incline on which to practice.)  Well, when your toes barely touch the ground, it's much easier said than done.  Many trips up and down the driveway and they were getting the hang of it.

maybe the tongue sticking out helps her balance?

Next, the task was to glide down the driveway without putting their feet down on the ground at all.  Before I knew it, they were gaining speed down the driveway and right out into the street - with Kevin on the lookout.  It was amazing to watch.  So now, they had the balance thing down. Time to add the pedals and the motion coordination.  It was a snap for them.  Off they went.

Just passing by.

I can't believe my "babies" can now ride 2 wheel bikes.  Craziness.  Their first true taste of freedom.....

Two boys and a little girl

Lara and I have known each other for almost 5 years now.  The fact that we both had twins was what gave us the opportunity to become friends.  I had a wonderful time photographing her 2 sweet five year old twins and adorable 18 month old daughter.  They were an energetic group and gave me lots of fun moments to capture.  We started out with family photos on their newly renovated porch. Such a perfect setting!

After spending some time at the house, we went to a nearby park where many leaves had already fallen. The kids had a great time running around, playing with the leaves and just being goofy.

I'm so glad I had the opportunity to spend some time with the whole family.
Thanks for such a fun shoot.
